100th Post

This is my 100th post and I saw that on this post I should put 100 things about myself. Some of these y'all may know about me and some you may not. I'll try to make it interesting but right now I'm tired so it may not work out that way. I can't believe I've been blogging long enough to have 100 posts but here I am.

100) I have come to truly love blogging. I just wish there was a way of keeping all these thoughts for my kids to someday read after I'm gone. I need to remember to journal write too.

99) I was born in Rome Georgia, then moved to Pennsylvania, then moved to Kansas to finish my younger years.

98) I went to 3 BYU's, (Ricks College) BYU-Idaho, BYU-Hawaii, and BYU-Provo. Hawaii of course was my favorite, then Ricks, then Provo.

97) I did an internship at Walt Disney World in Florida and loved it. I miss it there!

96) I went on a mission to Provo Utah and served on the Navajo Indian Reservation for a while. I loved that area.

95) I lived in China, Shangdong Province, Zibo for a few months and although it was tough it was great. I went to teach ESL and found teaching very difficult.

94) I met my husband, Larry Dean Saling Jr, online.

93) We got married on our 3rd time meeting. I picked him up over lunch and we eloped to the courthouse.

92) I inherited 3 girls whom I consider my own kids. 2 of them had names I already wanted for kids so it worked out great. Together we have 2 and another on the way.

91) My first job was when I was 14. I worked at a Day Care Center for $2 an hour and had 20-30 toddlers/babies all at once and by myself. Gotta love the days when there weren't any regulations.

90) I'm not sure I can come up with 100 things about myself. This is harder than I thought.

89) I don't like to cook but will every once in a while get the urge to bake.

88) I also don't like to clean but will. Every once in a while I go on a frenzy but not very often, like once a year. Much to the frustration of my family.

87) I love to read.

86) I danced ballet when I was a kid and love going to the ballet still.

85) I enjoy going to Broadway Musicals when they come into town. Les Mis is my favorite so far.

84) I have the best job ever, I get to work from home. I work at night which is tough for me but I love working from home.

83) I am a morning person usually but lately have been tired and will probably stay tired until kids are out of the house and I can sleep in again.

82) The only video games I enjoy are the Wii, Guitar Hero and Rock band. All others drive me nuts.

81) I love being pregnant and will be sad when I have this baby as it's most likely our last.

80) I enjoy watching T.V. There are several shows each night that I like to watch.

79) I love the DVR and can't imagine living w/out it ever again. Amazing invention.

78) I have lousy nails and can't grow them out. They break all the time. So frustrating.

77) I played the violin for 2 years when I was younger. I wish I could stil play it. I'm glad Kaitlyn is playing it, maybe I can get her to teach me.

76) I like crafty things and wish I could do them. I so wish I was more crafty. My mom was and I loved that about her.

75) I took piano lessons as a kid and hated it. Now I wish I could play. I have my mom's piano and will sit at it at times but just can't find enough time.

74) I enjoy keeping up with what celebrities are doing. Crazy I know.

73) I love chocolate, what girl doesn't? But I am starting to like vanilla and strawberry more.

72) My favorite cookies are Chips Ahoy, Chunky Chocolate Chip

71) My favorite holiday is Christmas but I also love Halloween. Actually any holiday is my favorite.

70) I like that my birthday is April 13th and every once in a while falls on Friday the 13th.

69) I love scary movies!

68) I was on the Drill Team in High School

67) I was also a Cheerleader in High School

66) I'm afraid of riding bicycles due to a bad accident or two as a kid.

65) I love suntanning and getting all dark. I wish it was easier to tan than it is now that I'm older. I also wish the tan would stay longer. Getting older just isn't fun.

64) I have my A.S. in Psychology

63) I have my B.S. in Geography: Travel and Tourism. Man do I wish I had stuck with Psychology or something else more useful.

62) I was in Gymnastics for years and could still do splits and back handsprings up until I got married and had kids. Where does all that flexibility go?

61) I was part of a singing group when I was younger that toured the state of Kansas, sang on TV, participated in the 4th of July festivities and then sang at Disney World.

60) I wore braces when I was a kid.

59) Never had a cavity. I did have a dentist tell me I had 2 cavities and he filled them but I'm pretty sure they weren't cavities just cracks from my braces.

58) I started wearing make-up when I was in 6th grade and have let my girls do the same.

57) I was the only girl on my soccer team when I was a kid. I loved that.

56) I don't like to teach but seem to always get callings as a teacher.

55) I get really nervous to speak in front of people.

54) I hate it when people aren't fair. I don't like it when others treat those I love without fairness.

53) I like to think I'm in control but realize I'm usually not.

52) I love to be pampered (pedicures, manicures, haircuts/color)

51) I've never gone to get a massage, they make me nervous.

50) I wish I knew more about politics.

49) I love it when people brush my hair, it is so relaxing.

48) I find blogging and facebook completely addictive.

47) I wish I took or had some time for myself. Selfish I know but some quiet time would be lovely. I must admit that Larry is good about letting me take a nap so I can stay awake for work.

46) I love my kids more than I thought I would or could. I'm amazed by them each day. I have amazing kids.

45) I got my 2 front teeth knocked out when I was in college at BYU-Hawaii. I was working at the PCC (Polynesian Cultural Center) when another worker threw a condiment dish inside a napkin and it hit my in the mouth. Now I have 2 fake teeth that I can't stand. Please ignore them.

44) I have become way more emotional as I have gotten older. I seem to cry at the dumbest things.

43) I like to think of myself as a patient person but I'm probably not. I don't think others think I'm patient.

42) I love to see new places and see what the rest of the world is doing. We get so caught up in our little world we forget that there are others in the world with less than we have.

41) I don't like to get flowers as a gift. I love flowers, my favorite being yellow roses and daisies, but I don't like them as gifts. They die and I'd rather have something that will last.

40) My favorite colors are Yellow and Red and Orange and Green and all of them. It just depends on my mood.

39) I can sleep anywhere, anytime, through anything. That is what college taught me.

38) I love that I married into a family that is so large! It's fun having so many to get together with. I just wish we were all closer to eachother. Plus I wish I could remember everyones names and who they belong to.

37) I'm not a fan of snow and love the sun and warm weather of Texas.

36) I've only been skiing once in my life.

35) I hate exercising but know I need to do it. I really need to lose all this baby weight.

34) I hate people who chomp their gum when chewing it. That is so annoying!

33) I like dogs but I am a cat person. Although right now I'm loving not having ours around.

32) I find it hard to remember how old I am. Isn't that crazy? I'm 33 right now.

31) I love to get dressed up to go out. Too bad we don't do that much anymore. Oh well. I love living in my jammies too.

30) I love working from home because I never have to get dressed and I don't have to fight TX traffic. Man I don't miss those commuter days.

29) I am a pack rat. I keep everything. But I am getting so much better at throwing things away. Thanks Jen for helping me overcome my problem. Now to get Larry to throw some things away. hehe

28) I love to play in the rain, especially with the kids.

27) I stole things as a kid and when my dad found out and made me apologize I learned my lesson. Saying sorry is hard when you know you've really done wrong. Disappointing daddy is worse.

26) I'm good at asking for help I think, ok maybe not great but good. Thanks to all those I abuse. hehe

25) Oh yah, I also played the flute as a kid. Mom always had us doing something musical.

24) I love watching American Idol and Survivor. Not all reality shows are good but I do like those 2.

23) I admit it, I like Brittney Spears and I can't stand Jessica Simpson.

22) It's funny, I loved talking on the phone as a kid and can't stand to talk on the phone now.

21) I bought my wedding dress 4 years before I got married. I saw it and loved it so got it hoping that someday I'd wear it. And I did without a problem, it fit perfectly 4 years later.

20) I can't wait for the day that Larry and I are sealed together for eternity to eachother and our kids. I hope that day comes soon.

19) I love going to zoos. I find them relaxing to walk around. Zoos and Aquariums are so much fun.

18) I love visiting historical sites. I have been to most of the church history sites and I have been to Gettysburg several times. I love D.C. Smithsonians and old cemeteries.

17) I love Country music but will listen to pop every once in a while too.

16) I love Elvis Presley, his music, his movies, and his home Graceland.

15) My parents are converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They both grew up in Missouri and when my dad discovered the church my mom's response was "didn't we kill them all?" I love my parents. They are funny.

14) I love Girraffes. Not sure why but I do.

13) I have an older brother and a younger sister.

12) I like sour candy most. Sour Patch kids are my favorite. Starburst are runner-up.

11) I started driving at age 14. Kansas let us but man I don't know how my parents did it. I see my daughter getting ready to turn 16 and start driving (ok she already drives some) and it scares me.

10) My first speeding ticket included not only me but also my mom because she allowed me to drive when I shouldn't have. My license was taken away for quite a while.

9) I don't like diamonds. I love gems with color. Which is why my wedding ring(s) are not diamonds but sapphires and emeralds.

8) I wish life were simpler. Sometimes modern technology is great but sometimes I wish life was easy like when I was a kid. Why are we in such a hurry to grow up? I hate being a grown up.

7) I think Lemonade is my favorite drink, especially in the summertime.

6) I love to play volleyball but am a pretty competetive person.

5) I truly love my husbands family. No bad in-law stories for me.

4) I love the gospel. I'm so grateful to have it in my life.

3) I love my husband and kids. I love having them around and miss them when they are gone.

2) I love the scriptures and church books/ magazines. They inspire me. I need to take more time to read and study them.

1) I love my life. I am happy. I have trials and chaos but I also have joy and love. I have wonderful family members who support us and pray for us. I have great friends and cherish the blessings in my life.

So now y'all have been bored to tears. This took me 2 days to do and was harder than I thought it would be. I'm glad I did it though and hope y'all learned something about me.

Kinsee Belle

Kinsee went on the picture taking treks with us and Jen got quite a few really cute pictures of her. So I thought while I had time I would post some of her too. I know I've posted quite a bit today but I thought while I had time I would do what I could. So you may not here from me much later you can enjoy all this now. Kinsee will be 2 in May and is already trying to grow up too fast. She sees Kamden using the potty and wants to too. I won't stop her but so far no success. She is a tomboy but can be such a girl too. I hope she keeps the sporty side of her. I love that she's rough and tumble but also likes to have Kaijsa dress her up. She is so cute and we love having her in our family. Sorry there are so many pictures but I couldn't decide which ones I liked best. Love you Belle!

More Birthday Pictures of Kamden

Ok, I finally figured out how to get my sisters pictures into a slideshow. We decided to try and save money this year on pictures by taking them ourselves. Who knew that would be so hard to do? Kamden doesn't hold still long enough for a picture. The ones you see I think took 3 different tries, hence the different outfits. Thank you Jen for being so willing and patient to do this for us! I think some of them turned out really cute. He often makes funny faces in pictures so here is what we got, or rather the ones I thought were best. Jen used a filter on them to soften them up and I like the effect. There were also some cute ones of Kinsee since she had to come along on the shoots, but I'll post those another time. This is for Kamden our wonderful son. We love you!

These are a few pictures we took of Kamden at his party with Playgroup. He has some wonderful friends and Playgroup is tons of fun for him and me. There are so many boys though and only Kinsee for the girl. She is becoming a tomboy which I love. I made the cake and themed it Monster Truck. He had a race car cake his first year so I wanted this one to be a little different. I think it turned out cute. He had a good birthday and I can't believe he's 3.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAMDEN!

Kamden Noah Saling turns 3 today! I love you Kam! You are a wonderful little boy and are growing up so fast.

Kamden has a sweet spirit and is always quick to tell others he loves them and sorry. He is a fantastic big brother and a fun little brother.

He loves to swing and play outside. In fact if he doesn't go outside for part of the day he gets kind of crazy. I love that he likes to be outside. His imagination is big and he's always pretending to be flying a plane, jet, or helicopter or he's a Race Car Driver. He is a tough and strong boy and is going to be a great athlete someday. He has just started to like to play baseball, football and soccer. He of course is still learning how to play but he likes to try. Kamden is very independent and likes to do things himself. This tends to create messes but I don't mind since he's learning. Ok, some days I do mind. We love our Kamden and hope he has a birthday with all his dreams coming true. I will take some pictures today of him and his cake. I'll also try to get some of his presents later. We have to set them up first. Once I do all this I'll post some more pictures of the birthday boy! I can't believe he's 3!

New President - New Era

I like this photo because they seem so together and happy. I hope the new President of the United States can keep some of his promises. He has a long rough road ahead but I hope it smooths out. It would be nice if people, all of us, could/would get behind him and help him be successful. We may not agree with everything but we need to be supportive. I like how he seems to be such a family man. I hope that is sincere. It was so great to see all the festivities of the Inauguration. I think we've come a long way as a country to put judgements aside and to have this historic moment. I hope it will be a "Do you remember when President Obama became President? Where you were and what you were doing? Time will tell. Let us all pray for him and his family and for all of us as a country. May we each do our part. Here's to the next 4 years.

Child Activated Attention Defecit Disorder

I saw this on my friend's blog and laughed so hard. This is so me!

C. A. A. D. D. Recently, I was diagnosed with C. A. A. D. D. - Child Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests: I decide to do the laundry. As I start toward the laundry room, I notice that there are cheerios all over the floor and my car keys are in the cereal bowl. I decide to pick up the cheerios before I do the laundry. I lay my car keys down on the counter, put the cheerios in the trash can under the counter, and notice that the trash can is full. So, I decide to take out the trash. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash I may as well pay the bills first. I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left, my extra checks are in my desk in the office/playroom, so I go to my desk where I find a sippy cup full of juice. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I decide I should put sippy cup in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the sippy cup, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered. I set the sippy cup on the counter, and I discover baby wipes that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back in the bathroom, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the wipes back down, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote, one of the kids left it on the kitchen table. I realize that when they go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote as they fight over who lost it, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down, get some paper towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day: the laundry isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm cup of juice sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find the wipes, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.

In Memory of my Mother - Sherry Janette (Pullen) Eoff

One year ago on January 19th my wonderful mother passed away. She was a smart, talented and loved Wife, Mother, sister and daughter. She was taken way too soon and is missed every single day. I wanted to take some time to remember her and let y'all get to know her a bit. She was born and raised in Missouri. She met my dad during the early college years and after they married they converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She raised us all by her love and example. She loved the gospel and she shared her testimony every chance she had. She loved to sing and had the strongest, prettiest alto voice. I loved that she sang and encouraged us to sing. She could come up with a song for every thought and occassion. It always amazed me how she could do that. I hope someday I can do that too, but so far not so good. She always took time to be there for me at my competitions, whether they be dance, sports, music or 4-H. She and my dad were always there and I loved that. We didn't get along very much while I was growing up, which I now look back and regret. I gave her a really hard time and feel like now I wasted time with her. But I'm sure she knew I loved her, even when I was at my worst, or I hope she did. My mom was so smart! I could ask her anything and she knew the answer. I would call her up and randomly ask her something and she could tell me what I needed to know. She helped me with my homework and always got me a good grade on the project/paper. I so wish I had her memory and knowledge. I remember her dressing up for every holiday with a fun sweatshirt/shirt and festive jewelry. She decorated the house to the extreme almost for every holiday. I loved that and so did my friends. She had such joy for life and was always willing to help someone else. I loved that she taught herself how to play the piano and tried to get me to learn too. I wish now I had paid more attention. She was always reading something and encouraged me to read too. I loved reading something and talking to her about it later. She always said you could do better in school if you would read, she was right. She instilled in me a love for the oldies and Elvis Presley. We would listen to the oldies (Beatles, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Frankie Avalon and Annette Funiccello, and anyone else from when she was younger). I loved singing along with her to the songs. I loved watching Elvis movies with her. I remember being home sick from school for a couple of days. She rented Gone With The Wind and had me watch it. At first I didn't want to but ended up loving the movie. It's one of my favorite memories. She had a loving heart and a sensitive spirit. She truly was/is one of the great spirits. I miss her every day and Love her more than I ever let her know. It's been a long year without her. I am sad that my kids, the younger ones, won't get to know her. I'm so glad that the 3 older girls got to spend some time with her and come to love her. I know she is with the spirit that is going to be coming to our family this summer. I know she is watching over us and continues to be there for us. I'm also sure she is getting things ready for us all up there, she always like to be prepared and organized. I wish y'all could have known her better for she was so amazing.

I love you mom! I miss you! I'm trying to be like you!

Potty Training

I'm so excited because today is day 2 of Kamden using the potty! He started wearing big boy pants too which is very exciting for me. I hope it continues. He had 1 accident during both days which I think is a great start. I know we have a long way to go but I see it as a great beginning. What a wonderful birthday present for his family if he was to be potty trained by his 3rd birthday, which is next week. Good Job Kamden! We are very proud of you! Keep up the good work! We love you!

Goals for the New Year

So another year is here and I'm never very good at setting resolutions. Larry's cousin decided on Goals instead and I thought, maybe I could do that too. So here I am trying to come up with some goals, that I may actually keep or do well on.

I always want to do better at reading my scriptures. I think I may try to read them for the few minutes I get for my break at night. The house is quiet then and I may actually get some good time to read then, even if it's only a few minutes.

I need to eat better, especially right now, but love those sweets! I will do my best to cut back on the sweets and eat them once a day instead of anytime all day. That will not only be better for me but for the baby too. Maybe I'll have a calmer child than my others. LOL yah right.

As for excercising, hmmmm, I know I should but I hate doing it. I live in a state where it's usually warm but right now it's cold. I hate exercising when it's cold. So I keep telling myself once it gets warmer I'll do something but by then I'll be really pregnant so we'll see what happens. I would like to start walking or something.

I would love to get my son potty trained and will work on that. It would be a bonus to have the little girl trained too. She seems to follow him so we'll see if that happens.

I want a healthy and easy pregnancy like my others and so far so good.

I want to be a better mom and wife. I really need to do better and cleaning the house and putting the clean laundry away. I'm sure my whole family would appreciate success on this goal.

This seems like a good list to start with so I'll stop here. Please follow up with me in the comments to keep me on track. As I feel like these are being completed or have become good habits then I'll add some more. The trick is to remember these and do well on them.

I love my family and will do better about taking care of y'all.

Weekend

I don't have any pictures but Larry and I took Kira back to Houston to catch her flight on Saturday. While down there we decided to stay the night. Thankfully we have Jen who is fantastic and our daughters Kaijsa and Kaitlyn who were willing to help us out with the little ones so we could. We stayed in Galveston and drove around the island for a short bit. There is still devestation but they have cleaned up too. It was nice to have a quiet night just the 2 of us. We are thinking of going back down soon with the kids, once the weather gets warmer. The ocean isn't much fun when it's cold. The waves were bigger than usual and it was awesome to smell the sea air. I love that smell and the feel of sand between my toes. Anyways. Happy New Year. Kira got home ok. We miss her. Kaitlyn got into school today w/out too much trouble and Kaijsa is back as well. Kamden and Kinsee didn't know what to do with themselves w/out the girls around to play with all day. We'll find our routine.
